Eirene sat alone on an empty dock for small fishing boats; it was early morning in Corinth and the girl had decided to escape the house as soon as she could before her father chose another twerp of a potential husband for her. She skimmed another stone across the water, watching it bounce the times before sinking.
People were just beginning to wake up and it wasn't long before they were going about their daily business. That was when an unfamiliar ship pulled up to one of the larger docks not far away from where Eirene was sat; it wasn't a pirate vessel, but it did look menacing.
The girl stood up and went to investigate.
At a safe distance and behind some crates, Eirene watched the ship's crew; one man looked around and quickly pulled a sheet over a pile of long, ornate boxes.
Eirene gasped.
